What if it really is something that needs our attention?! What if there was a way to help them feel more comfortable, follow instructions, and not feel like they have to be in fight-or-flight 24/7, reacting to every single emotion that comes their way?!

In this video, Dr. Drake explains what Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) really is and, most importantly, what we can do about it! In the past few years, we’ve seen the number of New Patients coming into our clinic with significant behavior issues and a diagnosis of Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD) absolutely explode. In this video we’re going to break down exactly why that is and what’s causing such a dramatic rise in behavior issues in kids, and get you some natural drug-free options to help “calm the storm” in your family!

When defiant and disruptive behavior takes over, it can absolutely destroy the quality of life for the entire family. You stop wanting to go out in public, go to social events and birthday parties, eat at restaurants, or even go on vacation. The stress and worry of your child having a major meltdown and behavioral breakdown in public makes you want to avoid it altogether.

If this sounds familiar, you're not alone. Oppositional Defiant Disorder, or ODD, affects up to 11% of children and adolescents, and things are only getting worse with our current chronically stressed and toxic lifestyle!

This video is for parents of children displaying persistent patterns of angry, argumentative, and vindictive behavior, who are seeking hope, answers, and drug-free solutions to help their child thrive.

In this video, we'll dive into the neurological roots of ODD, exploring how imbalances in the autonomic nervous system and vagus nerve contribute to the development of this challenging condition. You'll learn about the limitations of conventional treatments and discover how Neurologically-Focused Chiropractic Care offers a promising drug-free approach to address the underlying causes of ODD.

Research shows that up to 50-60% of children with ODD also have Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), which can exacerbate behavioral challenges. Additionally, children with ODD are at higher risk for developing co-occurring conditions such as Conduct Disorder, anxiety, and depression.

Left untreated, ODD can lead to long-term consequences, including academic difficulties, substance abuse, legal problems, and employment instability. As a practitioner, I've seen firsthand how the daily struggles associated with ODD can take a toll on the entire family's well-being, leaving parents feeling helpless and unsure of where to turn.

To understand the neurological roots of ODD, we need to look at the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS regulates our body's unconscious functions and consists of two main branches: the sympathetic nervous system, our "fight or flight" response, and the parasympathetic nervous system, our "rest, regulate, and digest" response. In children with ODD, there is often an imbalance between these two branches, with an overactive sympathetic nervous system and an underactive parasympathetic nervous system, leading to heightened emotional reactivity, impulsivity, and difficulty self-soothing.

At the heart of this autonomic imbalance lies the vagus nerve, a critical component of the parasympathetic nervous system responsible for regulating heart rate, digestion, inflammation, and emotional well-being. Research suggests that children with ODD often have lower vagal tone, indicating reduced capacity for emotional regulation and stress resilience.

All of this nervous system dysfunction, dysregulation, and imbalance can be caused by factors such as high stress fertility and pregnancy journeys, birth trauma, high levels of toxicity, and inflammation, perpetuating the cycle of emotional dysregulation and behavioral challenges seen in ODD that leaves them STUCK there every single day.

As a Neurologically-Focused Pediatric and Family Chiropractor, I dive deep into this nervous system dysfunction in kids struggling with ODD and behavior issues and find what’s called subluxation – which again means stress stuck on! This means that even at rest your child’s nervous system is constantly wound up, easily agitated, and overstimulated.

At Innate Family Chiropractic, we know exactly how hard navigating everyday life with ODD and behavior issues really is, and we can’t wait to help your family with a natural, drug-free option to help calm the storm and get them through these challenges!

To find the root cause of your child’s ODD it all starts with getting those Neurological INSiGHT Scans and finding out if your child’s nervous system is indeed subluxated, dysregulated, and stuck in sympathetic fight or flight mode.
